I read a blog yesterday by Tara Jones-- Atlanta, GA.... she reminded us to verify our sites by going to Google Webmaster Tools and uploading code to our sites.... All this to help GOOGLE find us.
I followed her instructions and also the ones provided by Google... but depending on your blog or site-- other measures may need to be taken. I queried GOOGLE and read many blog, forum, help posts-- finally finding the site: http://www.affiliatesonfire.com/articles/aof-seo-site-verifier-wordpress-plugin/ to help me make this Google-magic happen on MY site.
Wordpress sites have Plug-Ins that can help you in the admin and the many add-ons for web-sites. I found the address above and uploaded the Plug-In... it walks you through the site -verification process without having to hack into your theme and make html modifications or add metatags to your theme manually. This Plug-In also will help you get "verified" thru Yahoo and Bing.
Now that I have been "verified" by these Search Engines. I hope it will help in getting me hits, and clicks, & SALES!
