An idea worth sharing--
As we see the changes in the economy, some good but mostly bad, we also see a number of our friends, colleagues and co-workers struggle to make it. Those of us who are able to hang in there are very fortunate to be working. But what are we doing to help our friends during these tough times. Are we hording what we have in fear or are we trying to help the less fortunate?
A struggling friend once asked Benjamin Franklin for a loan. Mr. Franklin agreed to the loan, but he wrote the following specification to the loan: That the loan be paid back, not to Franklin, but to another person that would need help in the future. The loan was to continue being paid forward from one person to the next. Mr. Franklin said that this was trick of his to do a lot of good with a little bit of money.
Can you imagine what a difference we could all make as realtors if we began applying this concept. With each other and our customers? I don't mean we should all start loaning money to everyone we meet, but couldn't this concept also apply to other avenues beside money. Perhaps in referrals, information sharing, our time? With the only condition being that those we help return the "loan" by helping someone else.
Just a thought...
